My time in Gay Atlanta
As soon as I realized I was going to be in Atlanta for a little while I realized I was going to need to make some gay friends here. And being a Gay Millennial I did what we all do and took to the internet. Since then I have found a few legitimate friends (not hookups) in the city.
Tonight I got invited to Random Movie Night by the main group of guys I have been hanging out with (the ones who go rock climbing). It’s pretty neat they have set up their own website for it where everyone rates the movies they watch and they track who attends, but I also got to meet the larger group of friends to which my climbing buddies belong. There were about 20 people there most of whom were nerdy gaymers and technology enthusiasts, which was totally awesome. But I realized outside of Tumblr I normally don’t hang out with that crowd.
I’ve realized that up until now in my gay life I have always preferred to be the weird nerdy one in the group of more “traditional” gays. Its really strange for me to walk into a room where I am the person most representative of the popular gay scene stereotype.
